North York Seniors Centre is pleased to announce that we have
earned a Three-Year Accreditation from CARF

Highest Level Decision to be awarded to an Organization

October 2022

NYSC has been awarded the highest level of accreditation by CARF International (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for its Adult Day Services, Home and Community Services, Personal Support Services and Governance programs.

This accreditation, the fourth to be awarded to NYSC and in effect for three years, is the outcome of a rigorous peer review process which ensures conformation with standards set by CARF. Quality person-centered programs and services, strict compliance to health and safety requirements, risk management and transparent business practices are some of the key areas reviewed by CARF.

“Receiving our fourth award is just as important to us as the first award. It is the most comprehensive way for us to see the value of our programs and services to our clients and the community,” said Candace Thomson, NYSC Executive Director. “This accreditation confirms North York Seniors Centre’s continued commitment to providing programs and services that are measurable, accountable and of the highest quality.”

As part of the accreditation process, NYSC must submit an Annual Conformance to Quality report to CARF for each year of the three-year Accreditation term, thereby ensuring its ongoing commitment to meet or exceed CARF’s internationally-recognized standards and continuous quality improvement.

The determination of the NYSC team, professionals and volunteers alike, to achieve and maintain this level of excellence, is something that I am truly proud,” says Thomson. “Our person-centered care approach, and client driven philosophy are the cornerstones of our organization.”
