Caregiver Series 2021
| January 12, 2021Being a family caregiver can be extremely gratifying, but anyone who has been down this road can speak to its many challenges.
.
The Caregiver Workshop Series is here again to connect us all in 2021. The new series brings lawyers, health care professionals, and fitness instructors to discuss various topics that will help caregivers overcome caregiving’s daily challenges. For ten weeks, all caregivers and caretakers are welcome to be part of our now classic live-streaming interactive workshops that already reached over 100 participants on its last edition held a couple of months ago.
.
This year’s edition started on January 21st, 2021, with a workshop on Long Term Care Planning.
.
Upper neck, back, shoulder pain that causes caregiver stress is the topic of the coming workshop on Thursday, March 18th. Presented by: Dr Karen Hudes, Chiropractor and Rehabilitation Specialist at Badass Chiropractic Wellness.
.
Then, on March 25th, the workshop will talk about Elder Abuse, Dementia & Why Dementia Clients are more Vulnerable. Presented by: Karen Stewart, Lawyer, Advocacy Centre for the Elderly.
.
The Caregiver Workshop has been held for more than ten years with the leadership of Stacy Hilliman (Client Service Coordinator of the North York Seniors Centre). According to Stacy, the presenting calendar was built based on discussions she had within her caregivers’ group. “We constantly apply surveys, and some topics that came up were considered.” She enhances that the workshops intend to provide awareness, essential insights, and techniques to improve the ability to be a better caregiver. “Besides, it will be a place where attendants can socialize, meet new friends, and connect with people that can support them”.
.
The Caregiver Workshop Series is free and open to the community, but it requires registration. For additional information, please call 416 733.4111 ext. 310. Spots are limited.
