Free legal summary advice to tenants
| February 12, 2021EVICTION HELP: THE TENANT-LAWYER CONNECTION PORTAL
If you have a residential tenant who you are unable to assist through your service and who:
1) is facing eviction for non-payment of rent,
2) has a hearing scheduled before the Landlord Tenant Board in the next ten days, and
3) has access to the internet,
please consider referring the tenant to www.oba.org/TLCP.
BACKGROUND
The OBA has created a pop-up initiative, delivered under the auspices of the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO), called “Eviction Help: The Tenant-Lawyer Connection Portal”.
The Portal opens a virtual space for residential tenants to connect with participating lawyers, who will offer to provide 30-minutes of free legal summary advice.
HOW TO REGISTER
Residential tenants will need to visit www.oba.org/TLCP to fill out a registration form and identify a date/time that works best for them. Once they complete the registration form, they will receive an email confirming their registration with a Zoom link for the date/time they have booked an appointment.
NOTE: Neither the OBA nor the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO) are providing legal advice and neither are responsible for the provision or quality of legal advice. Lawyers you speak with through the Tenant-Lawyer Connection Portal (TLCP) are not employed by or insured by the OBA or ACTO, and neither the OBA nor ACTO guarantees that you will be matched. Lawyers on the TLCP will decide whether they are willing to take on your matter or provide advice on a pro bono basis as part of their own practice.
