Once again, and due to the pandemic, this year we are unable to hold any of our in-person celebrations and fundraisers. Even though we can’t celebrate together this June, we still need your help to help others.

This Seniors month, we are calling on your support in assisting those who are lonely, and experiencing increased physical and mental health decline as this pandemic continues. It’s been over 500 DAYS of closure and the fatigue and effects of isolation are getting more difficult for all of us. This has been hard – especially for the elderly.

With vaccines rolling out faster and the warmer weather here, hope is rising. Now is the time to recover, rebuild and plan for tomorrow, so we can celebrate together again! It will take some time and effort to get back into shape, and the time to act is now. There is much work to be done to support the recovery and re-connection of those who have been affected the most. We know we can do it, but we need your help NOW.

– NYSC during COVID-19 –

Since the beginning of the pandemic, North York Seniors Centre has pivoted programs and services to help 2500+ older adults overcome the negative effects of isolation. On-line and telephone programming have assisted seniors and caregivers access the help they need, be active and connect with friends.

NYSC has played an important role in delivering essential services to our community – daily reassurance calls to check on lonely ones, in-home care to assist the most fragile, grocery shopping and food hamper deliveries to the elderly, and transportation rides to medical appointments and vaccination clinics – vital supports to meet the most basic of needs of seniors.
